On a fair Saturday evening in early November, soon after dusk, the crowds started pouring in to Canford Park, Westbury-on -Trym for the much-anticipated annual Bristol Fireworks Fiesta jointly organised by the Rotary Club of Clifton and the Bristol Round Table.
Promoted in order to raise funds, largely for local charities and international causes supported by Rotary, the success or failure of the event is dependent upon support from local citizens and, thankfully, they supported us in their thousands.
Some 7,500 turned up to see the magnificent display put on by the current British champions of pyrotechnic display engineers, Fireburst.
Until it started food and drinks were available from several vendors and entertainment provided by Party Peets
Then, right on time the sound and sight of the first rockets taking off announced the start of the show. And what a show we delivered!
For a full 15 minutes period the sky was filled with an everchanging melee of brilliant light as rockets galore soared upwards before exploding to cascade back to earth whilst on the ground wheels and fountains provided a picturesque and noisy backcloth.
There followed a foam battle by Party Peets which was thoroughly enjoyed by the hundreds of children present before departing for home after a most wonderful evening out.
We thank all who supported this event and acknowledge the wonderful work of the many volunteers, including those from Bristol and Bristol Breakfast Rotary Clubs, who help to make this, the biggest Charity event of it’s kind in the Bristol area, raising over £30,000 for deserving causes.
