On arrival guests were shown to 'Santa's grotto' and invited to partake of Mulled Wine and Canapes before being ushered into the picture gallery for the traditional 'photo quiz'. This year's theme was photos from throughout the world and it soon became apparant that several of our party were serious world travellers who recognised most of the sights depicted.
There followed a most delicious roast beef dinner followed by Christmas pudding, cheese and biscuits and mince-pies.
Our musical director, Neville Mays then presented a musical quiz based on the music of our 'era'. Twenty pieces of music were played by Neville with three questions then being asked about each piece. Results were surprisingly good considering most of the music was at least 50 years old!
And then we had our traditional lusty community sing song with almost everyone getting into a tangle with the associated movements of the 'Partridge in the Pear Tree', as well as a few other well loved seasonal songs.
Many thanks to Dennis V. MC, who managed the proceedings beautifully throughout the evening, to the team of ladies who helped Kathy prepare the food and others who helped in so many ways to make the evening so special.
But mainly to Kathy for her generosity in providing a memorable evening.....and intimating that she would like to do it all again next year. Many thanks Kathy.....we love you!!!!
