Hurriedly arranged at short notice following the postponement of our walk around Priddy, President Bruce and his wife, Kathy, provided excellent food, good weather, friendly company for around 20 Rotarians and their wives as well as a delightful walk around the countryside surrounding the charming village of Frenchay.
As we meandered along the banks of the River Frome and through lanes lined with picturesque cottages and ancient buildings, we mused that these quiet pastoral scenes were only a short distance from the noise and bustle of Bristol and just how fortunate we were to have such wonderful countryside on our doorstep.
Arriving back at chez Simmonds we were treated to a ploughman’s lunch and a very sociable party, something we had sadly missed over the last nine months but very happy that more such events are already in our diaries.
