On a glorious late September afternoon four Clifton Rotarians met at Henbury golf course, had a light lunch and then teed off in the inaugural monthly roll-up of what we hope will become a regular and popular club event. Playing better ball match-play John Allen and Richard Brown impressively won the first hole on what proved to be the only time they had a lead.
Dennis Pendergast and John Witham won the 4th and 5th holes to take the lead which they never lost with both teams winning and losing holes they were never more than 2 ahead. Two up on the 15th, Allen and Brown won the 16th and 17th to square the match and all was dependent on the 18th. As expected, Brown hit a tremendous drive to lead the way to the green but Dead Eye Dennis caught up him and sank the final putt of the game to half the hole and bring an exciting game to a well-matched and honourable draw.
