TEMWA Charity, Malawi

Thursday 23rd September 2021

Members were treated to a passionate and informative report by MD Jo Hook and Michael Osborne, RC Wells, on the progress TEMWA (means Love) are making in a remote part of Malawi.  They have provided education for the children, fresh water, health-care, and agriculture education for the local people to become healthier and more self reliant.

The area has been particularly badly hit by COVID 19 and about 25% of the children become orphaned. Aids which were once the scurge of the area has been reduced by some 90% through educating the population.

Jo thanked the club for our financial support and informed us that a Rotary grant is being pursued which should enable the charity to complete it's current work and allow growth in it's operations in the future.
